I have a Hotpoint electric oven which came with my starter home 7 years ago. Today, while we were using it, the burners stopped working...just like that. I checked the breaker, even flipped them off for a while, then turned them back on. Nothing. Pulled the oven away from the wall, nothing seemed wrong. I know it's getting power because the indicater lights come on...just no heat. The oven heats, just a little. I'm mystified. When I called Hotpoint, they said it would take a week for a tech to come out and evaluate it...and I need to cook for the holidays! Any tips or words of wisdom? It almost seems as if I have to choose between paying a tech to come out for 70.00 and maybe a costly repair, or buting a new range after just 7 years. Money is so tight, are there any alternatives, anything I'm overlooking?
how do you calibrate the oven temp. i just installed a new controller (3169259) and it is off by about 50 degrees.
